My born city is Salvador, state Bahia, Brazil. And there, is a cultural centre of Brazil, where you can see and learn a lot about music, dance, theatre, etc. Bahia has big influency African people, because arrived there between three and five century ago thosaund and thosaund black people that were working as slave. Today Bahia is region the world that have more black people out of Africa. The African influency is present in food, art and culture in general.
You can know the Capoeira, that's a martial art created in Bahia at the time of slavery. This martial art mix fight and dance. The slaves created this to defend themselves of attack owners of the farm sugar cane and a form of entertainment in the quilombos. Quilombos was places where the slaves fugitives met, for survive in group. It was as black city in the age of slavery.

Have you ever done capoeira? I have! Our teacher used to tell us to tighten our stomach muscles, and then he would walk on our stomachs. OW! It got me in great shape, though.

I want to visit your city. It sounds amazing.
